History — Achieving Success Through:

Founded as a division of Uniform Tubes, Inc. to manufacture semi-rigid cable, Micro-Coax has been strongly committed to the coaxial cable business for more than 50 years. During that time, Micro-Coax has significantly expanded its capabilities to provide reliable and cost effective transmission line and EMI shielding solutions and added products including high performance flexible cable along with value-added assembly work, including cable assemblies, delay lines, connectors and innovative ARACON® metal clad fiber.

Throughout our history, we have never deviated from what we do best – manufacturing high performance transmission line solutions. Today, we are the world’s largest manufacturer of semi-rigid cable and our UTiFLEX™ high performance flexible cable assemblies have become the benchmark for the industry.   • 1936
  • A.H. Mainwaring (our Founder) and Norman Jack Patented the Precursor to Semi-Rigid Cable (“Metal Shielded Wire”)
  • 1940
  • Uniform Tubes, Inc. was founded by A. H. Mainwaring
  • 1962
  • Microwave Division of Uniform Tubes created. Semi-Rigid cable product line expanded to include
    “UT-250C, UT-141A, UT-085 cables”
  • 1962-1963
  • Micro-Coax makes UT-47 gold jacket for first Apollo Space Mission
  • 1977
  • Patented In-a-Cable® Filters (Filters integrated within semi-rigid cable)
  • 1988
  • Developed UTiFLEX® High Performance Flexible Microwave Cable Assemblies
  • 1990
  • Formed UK Joint Venture with Rosenberger
  • 1991
  • Micro-Coax develops an 8-channel gain-compensated delay line assembly for Hughes Aircraft and the Navy’s AN/ALR-67 system, Advanced Special Receiver (ASR)
  • 1992
  • In-a-Cable Filters used on Texas Instruments HARM (High speed Anti-Radiation Missile) Missile
  • 1995
  • ISO 9002 Registration, Renewed in 1998 and 2001
  • 1998
  • Relocated to New 90,000 Sq. Ft. Facility
  • 1999
  • Opened 12,000 sq. ft. Blackburn, UK Cable Assembly Factory & was incorporated as a stand-alone company: Micro-Coax, Inc.
  • 2002
  • Acquired Precision Tube’s Coaxitube Division
  • 2003
  • Registered to ISO 9001:2000 Standard
  • 2005

  • Purchased Kroll Technologies, LLC & Acquired the KEVLAR® based ARACON® brand metal clad fiber business from DuPont
